Race week, from the studio

The roads close, the whole country tilts towards the racing, and the studio radio never goes off. Notes from the most electric week of the year.

There's a certain week where nothing else gets done properly. The commentary's on in the background, the phone's buzzing with people sending clips, and every sketch I start somehow ends up being a bike.

Road racing is woven through everything here — it's not a niche, it's the culture. When the roads close and the whole place tilts towards the racing, you feel it. That energy goes straight into the work.

By the end of the week the studio wall is covered in fresh reference and half-formed ideas. Most of next year's commissions are born in those few days.

Every piece starts with a conversation. Tell me the idea and we’ll take it from there.
